Snake Medicine

It is not really possible for us as humans to be like the caterpillar and ' transform' our selves into a new shape. But it is possible for us to change and grow through the art of 'transmutation' Like the snake, we can shed old skins and be our own true identity.

Thank you, Caroline, for creating a safe and loving space for us to experience the journey and the medicine. You were very present throughout the workshop, supporting us and guiding us consciously and lovingly which gave us the freedom to fully embrace our experiences, painful or otherwise. Your words during the dance were so supportive and encouraging and you knew exactly what to say and the right time to say it. The music was wonderful; evocative and energizing. You are a very gifted and intuitive teacher and I won't hesitate to recommend this workshop. Karen (Snake Medicine London '10)

Releasing the outer skin of present identity can be a fearful concept, sometimes it is preferable to stay the same way even if stuck or in a rut, rather than experience unfamiliarity or discomfort. Old patterns are safe and reliable, yet static and fixed.

Caroline teaches the progress of the snake shedding its skin as a metaphor for how we can gently and effectively make changes in our present lives. She takes most of these teachings from the study of 'Alchemy' a Mexican black king snake. You will experience deep states of trance and meditation, simple movement that incorporates the mesa practice of Movement Medicine. You will learn to be a story teller of your own truth and the journeys you experience.

"My connection with Alchemy has taught me so much, her movements and ways of transmutation have influenced my own" C

Snake teachings are profound and magical. In cultures around the world snake teaches us to transmute our difficulties and challenges, whether they be sexual, psychic, physical, emotional or spiritual. The power of snake medicine is the power of creation and the transmutation of the fire medicine. (This medicine embodies sexuality, reproduction and ascension.) In this dance of fire and chaos we learn to accept every aspect of ourselves and learn to transform thoughts, feelings, actions and desires so that wholeness can be achieved. This wild dance of creation allows us to shed the skins of ego and past so we can become the creators of our own lives, as we disintegrate the old and transmute the energy we hold, accepting the power of fire within.
Snake comes to you at a time when you are heading for change. You are ready to explore the mysterious, whether in the physical world or in the depths of the mind and soul. Snake medicine knows the power of renewal. This death and rebirth cycle is part of what snake represents. It has ties and significance to the ancient alchemists and their symbolic transmutation of lead into gold. This is associated with higher wisdom that comes with the passing of time. The ability of the snake is to move between the realms of the living and the dead. With this energy we are able to see the world from an entirely new perspective.

A blend of deep movement meditation, shamanic journey, ritual and sharing.
Ongoing support and coaching is available with Caroline to help you enrich and deepen the experience into your every day life and actions.

When I was last in the Colombian Mountains visiting a Shaman that we worked with there, I spoke about a dream I had. A little girl connected to a large white snake. He told me how the Guardian of the Spirit of Snake is a wild little girl, innocent and fascinated with life. She brings back to us the playfulness of our childhoods, the curiosity for life that is so easily left behind when cynicism and disappointment step into its place. Teaching Snake Medicine these last few years has brought about a reminder of these teachings. I heard stories afterwards of healing and remembering, of Naga Snakes and mysticism, even the unfolding of fear of the snake itself.
In a recent healing session my own snake Alchemy met with a friend sharing her own fears and gradually trusting him enough to slip into his hands and resting there, trusting this new found love between them. My logo carries the double pointed crystal a shamanic tool, the last gift my father gave to me before he died, it is enwrapped with a small back snake. The first beautiful meeting I had with a snake many years ago was with a black mexican king snake, the turning point in my life for my work and recognition of the healing potential of this amazing creature.
My teachings in this w/shop are a blend of Movement Medicine and traditional shamanic skills. We will dance, journey to the drum beat and dance some more. I always encourage writing in my workshops and exploring the words that are otherwise left unsaid.
When I teach this medicine it is deeply healing, very gentle and earth based. Reminding us of who we are and finding a simple way to move forward and be present with ourselves and those around us. If you feel drawn to joining us, please do.
And if you have any queries about the workshop then just email me  info@carolinecarey.com
There is always a concessionary place if you need one.

'Caroline's Snake Medicine workshop in London was amazing. I say this because I was wondering how in such a short space of time, and mixing in writing and a bit of talking we would go deep into the movement, in to our Selves. But I did go very deep. One reason that was possible was because Caroline held a very safe and inviting space - essential if you are supporting people to let go. The workshop has had a powerful impact on me physically, mentally, and spiritually. It was well worth it!' Veena Vasista (London, July 2010)
